Asanteman Mourns Nkoranzamanhemaa

The Nkoranza Traditional Council has announced the passing of Nana Adutwumwaa Mmorosa, the Queen mother of Nkoranza, today, March 29, 2024.

Confirming the news to Opemsuo Radio’s Adwoa Serwaa Yonkodo, Nana Atta Fosu Owusu Ababio, the Nkoranza Asamanghene, expressed profound sorrow over the loss, emphasizing its impact on Asanteman and particularly the people of Nkoranza.

“Today, we received sad news. Nkoranzamanhemaa, Nana Adutwumwaa Mmorosa, has passed away… The elders have conveyed this through our customs to Asanteman and Nkoranza. As per tradition, the Asantehene was informed, and only he could authorize the public announcement. He granted us permission to make the announcement today.”

He further explained that just like the recent events of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II when no restrictions were placed on activities in Asanteman, economic activities will proceed as usual. There will be no ban or restrictions even on the day of the one-week celebration, ensuring that life continues normally despite the mourning period.

The Queen mother passed away after a brief illness.

As the community prepares to bid farewell, the one-week celebration of her life is scheduled for April 11 in Nkoranza, Bono East Region.
