GACL Confirms Transfer of Immigration Officer Over Extortion at AIA
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has confirmed the transfer of a Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) officer from the Accra International Airport (AIA) following his viral video.
In a statement dated August 6, 2026, the company assured that it had addressed the viral video showing a GIS officer allegedly demanding money for “breakfast” from a passenger at the airport.
The incident is the latest in a series of disciplinary actions by GACL aimed at stamping out extortion and misconduct at Ghana’s airports.
Management reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on extortion. “Management reiterates: Everyone is being watched,” the statement noted.
The company urged all passengers to record such acts by staff.
