Mahama Nominates Rawlings and Ayariga, Reshuffles Defense and Works Ministries

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted two new ministerial nominations to Parliament for prior approval and announced a reshuffle affecting the Defense and Works portfolios.

In a statement issued by the Presidency on Friday, August 7, 2026, and signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Dr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, the President said the action was taken in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

According to the statement, the President nominated Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP, for the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, and Mahama Ayariga, MP, for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs. The names have been forwarded to Parliament through the Speaker for consideration and approval.

The President also reassigned Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei to the Ministry of Defense and Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
