Baworo Belongs to Ohenyere – Baworohene Retracts

The Chief of Baworo, Nana Sarfo Agyemang, has admitted that Baworo belongs to Oheneyere Poa Kwabi Agyemang, retracting his earlier statement.

Nana Sarfo Agyemang had earlier invoked the Great Oath to lay claim to Baworo after he was challenged by Oheneyere Poa Kwabi Agyemang, who maintained that the settlement was an Aheneyere town and therefore under her authority.

The retraction took place during a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on Wednesday, August 6, 2026, presided over by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“I withdraw my statement. Asantehene graciously appointed me to ascend the stool and take care of the town, but it belongs to the royal wife,” he said.

For improperly invoking the Great Oath, Nana Sarfo Agyemang was initially fined 48 rams.

Following appeals and the intervention of Otumfuo, the penalty was reduced to six rams.
