Asantehene Constitutes Committee to Probe Mpasaaso No. 2 Stool Dispute

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has constituted a four-member committee to probe the stool dispute surrounding the royalty status of Nana Amoakowaa Gyampa, Mpasaaso No2 Baapanin.

The committee was established during a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on August 6, 2026.

The committee is made up of Akrofromhene, Anantahene, Nkwantakesehene and Otumfuo Kyeame Amoateng.

They were given a month to dig into the lineage owners of the stool to arrive at the true royals.

Background
Following an order by the Asantehene for the queen to select a royal to occupy the vacant male stool, after the destoolment of Nana Amofa Twumasi, a royal who identified herself as Yaa Dufie halted the process, invoking the Great Oath to challenge the queen’s royal lineage.

Meanwhile, Nana Amoakowaa Gyampa has shot down the claims, affirming that she is of royal lineage.

At a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on August 3, 2026, she invoked the Great Oath to defend her stance and counter the claims by her accuser.
