I’ll Never Forget God Made Me King- Otumfuo
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has made it a point to keep himself conscious of the source of his authority.
According to him, his prayers, since he ascended the Golden Stool, have been to never forget that he is human like all men including those who attend to his needs.
“God put me here. It is not by my will, beauty, strength or wisdom. His will has put me here. If I forget that he is the source of my authority, I will not progress. What I never forget is that I’m seated here because of His grace. The labourer breathes the same air I breathe so if I fail to respect such people, I err. The cleaner and all people are just like I am just that I have been appointed to sit here. That doesn’t give me the right to treat them badly. All men are important for what I do.”
Among the legacies he aspires to leave behind, he said, is treating people with the respect and dignity they deserve for the fact that they are humans irrespective of their calibre and social status.
“I pray that I never forget this. I want to leave a legacy that I respected and treated all men with dignity.”
He made the statements when the leadership of the Methodist Church of Ghana called on him at the Manhyia Palace on Friday, April 19, 2024.
He therefore urged the clergymen to mention him in their prayers to facilitate his reign as he stated, “I also seek wisdom and direction to reign. Your prayers will guide me in doing this.”
The delegation included the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev Paul Kwabena Boafo, the Past Presiding Bishop of the Church, Most Rev Prof. Emmanuel Asante and Lay President of the church, Brother Kwasi Attah-Antwi.
