President Akuffo Addo Congratulates President Alassane Ouattara

His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the President of Ghana has yesterday 10th November 2020, sent his congratulation message to re-elected president of Cote d’Ivoire, President Alassane Ouattara.

In his message, Nana Akufo-Addo stated “following the completion of  the processes of the constitutional court, which has affirmed the verdict of the 2020 presidential election, I congratulate the president of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, S.E.M Alassane Ouattara, on his re-election as president.”

He continued that it is his wish that with the period of President Ouattara’s tenure of office, he will not only help strengthen the already strong relations between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, but also help accelerate the realisation of the vision of regional integration.

His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo concluded that it is equally important that President Ouattara quickens the process of reconciliation amongst the key stakeholders of the political process in order to banish the spectre of potential instability and may he continue to put the country onto the path of progress, prosperity and unity.

President Alassane Ouattara is going to govern the country for the 3rd time in office as originally the limit was two terms until a new constitution was promulgated after a constitutional referendum in 2016 was effectively reseted, which would allow him to run for a controversial third time as he announced in March 2020 that he would not seek another term. Opposition parties argued that the move was unconstitutional and some protests was ensued but Mr. Ouattara was allowed to run again regardless by the Independent Electoral Commission and the Constitutional Court.
