Ghana, Panama Sign MoU to Begin Bilateral Political Consultations
Ghana and Panama have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to officially commence bilateral political consultations.
The MoU was signed on September 20, 2026, in the margins of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly Session in New York, by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and his Panamanian counterpart, His Excellency Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vásquez.
The agreement seeks to deepen and structure cooperation between the two countries, particularly in maritime affairs, cocoa production, enhanced trade and mutual technical assistance in the extractive sector.
On a lighter note, Honourable Ablakwa also took the opportunity to reconcile with Panama after Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, defeated Panama at the just ended World Cup.
