Twin Sisters’ Report Leads to Arrest of Two Over CSSPS Placement Fraud

Two persons have been arrested by the Police in Accra over alleged fraud related to the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

The arrests followed a tip-off from the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.

According to the Ministry, the development began after two BECE candidates- twin sisters- reported to the Minister with evidence alleging that the suspects had lured them into paying money in exchange for assistance with their second-cycle school placement.

Upon receiving the information and reviewing the evidence presented, the Minister promptly alerted the appropriate security authorities, leading to the arrest of the two suspects at the Resolution Centre.

The development, the Ministry said, underscores its commitment to protecting parents and students from individuals who seek to exploit the placement process for personal gain.

The Ministry reiterated that placement through the CSSPS is free and that no parent or student should pay money to anyone in exchange for placement.

It further urged parents, students and the general public to remain vigilant and to report suspected cases of extortion, fraud or attempts to manipulate the placement process to the appropriate authorities.

“The latest arrests also reinforce the Ministry’s warning that individuals who attempt to exploit anxious parents and students during the placement exercise will be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law,” the Ministry added.
