Police Dismantle Notorious Robbery Gang, Kill 3

Three suspected armed robbers have been killed in a gun battle with police in the Tilly Forest, as the Upper East Regional Police Command dismantled a notorious gang behind a string of robberies.
The deceased suspects have been identified as Amadu Apiiga, 33; Philip Vokbilla, 22; and Bilal Adabode alias Sulley.
Police say the suspects, who also led officers to the gang’s arms cache, were fatally injured when the team came under fire at the location in the Tilly Forest where they had indicated their rifles were concealed.
Two police officers were also injured in the exchange and are receiving medical attention.
Other members of the gang who are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds fled the scene.
The Command says the same gang is linked to the murder of a police officer during a robbery at Zebilla on 8th February, 2026.
An operation in the forest led to the retrieval of two locally manufactured single-barrel guns, two pistols, including a BRUNI 92 pistol loaded with eleven 9mm rounds of ammunition, eighteen BB live cartridges, three sharp cutlasses, four unregistered Yamaha Aerox scooters, a pair of black boots, a motorbike number plate and two mobile phones.
The police have appealed to the public to report anyone found with gunshot wounds to the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, six other members of the gang arrested earlier are in custody assisting investigations, while efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and trace the source of the weapons.
