Ghana’s Interior Minister Visits India To Study Tamil Nadu’s Digital Policing Model
The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has led a high-level delegation from Ghana to India to study digital policing initiatives implemented by the Tamil Nadu Police.
The delegation on Sunday, September 21, 2026, visited the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) in Tamil Nadu to understand the various Information Technology and digital policing initiatives.
According to a press release from the Office of the Director General of Police / Head of Police Force, Chennai, a major focus of the visit was the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) 2.0 project, which represents a significant milestone in the digital transformation of the Tamil Nadu Police.
Tamil Nadu is one of the first states in India to implement CCTNS 2.0, which has been successfully rolled out across 2,106 Police Stations and Special Units.
Under the guidance of Dr Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, IPS, Director General of Police / Head of Police Force, Tamil Nadu and in the presence of Thiru. T.S. Anbu, IPS, ADGP, Law & Order and Tmt. Sonal Chandra, IPS, IGP/SCRB, a briefing was given on various digital policing and criminal justice initiatives, including ICJS 2.0, NAFIS, Smart Kavalar, Facial Recognition Software and the Digital Fingerprint Collection System.
It was also highlighted that M/s. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Private Limited, the System Integrator for the CCTNS 2.0 project and the Tamil Nadu Police received the ISG Asia Pacific Paragon Award 2026, Singapore, in recognition of excellence in implementing digital transformation initiatives under the innovation category.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Ghanaian delegation to understand the technological architecture, implementation experience and operational practices adopted by the Tamil Nadu Police in the field of digital policing.
Among the delegation were Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso, High Commissioner of Ghana to India, and Mr Muniru Kadiri, Minister-Counsellor, Ghana High Commission. Other members of the Ghana delegation included Mr Ahmed Munir, Mr. Dominic Savio Anani Numekevor, Mr. Cosmos Alan Anyan and Mr. Charles Christian Clegg.
