Asante Kotoko left-back, Patrick Asmah, yesterday put up a lush performance in the Ashanti derby at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.
The Porcupines piped their regional rivals by 1-0 in a cagey encounter, thanks to Fabio Gama’s brilliant goal on the 22nd minute of the first half.
The left-back who had the opportunity to play at his favourite position for the first time in so matches provided an assist for Asante Kotoko only goal in the crunchy derby.
The former Atlanta player has had a difficult season competing with sublime Ibrahim Imoro at the left-back.
A section of the vociferous supporters of Asante Kotoko were shocked when the Management release Imoro Ibrahim to the Black Meteors. However, Asmah stepped in sensationally to provide 5-star performance.
A season that seems to be out of hands for the former BA United prodigy saw him braving the odds to mark his performance in a spectacular complexion, thanks to Black Meteors friendlies which took away his competitor Ibrahim Imoro.
He’s not a Jordi Alba or Diego Marcelo, obsessed geniuses. But he is crafted in his own phenomenal level to shine. Asmah is a bon vivant.
He is sensationally blessed with tailor measured passes, skills, speed, savvy interceptor of the ball and staggering defending prowess. Asmah is a brainy defender who exhibits remarkable maturity on the field, well composed and confident when with the ball as a defender.
Patrick Kojo Asmah, certainly, is a player that will start in almost all clubs in Ghana.
