Ghana Reopens Diplomatic Mission In Ireland After 17 Years

Ghana is set to officially reopen its Diplomatic Mission in Ireland, 17 years after it was closed due to budgetary constraints.

The Mission, which was closed in September 2009, will be reopened on September 22, 2026.

In attendance was the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson who leding Ghana’s delegation to Dublin ahead of the ceremony.

The re-opening marks an important new chapter in Ghana-Ireland relations.

According to the Ministry, it will strengthen diplomatic cooperation, deepen engagement with the Ghanaian community, and enhance consular services and support for Ghanaians living in Ireland.

The Deputy Minister was given a warm welcome by a vibrant Ghanaian community in Dublin, with a colourful cultural display and traditional drumming, which reflected the warmth, pride and strong bonds among the Ghanaian community in Ireland.

The Ministry described the development as a renewed mission for stronger partnerships and closer connections between the two countries.
