NPP: Election Committee Only Decides When And Where To Hold Elections – Kwesi Kyei
Ashanti Regional Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Kwesi Kyei Danso, has asserted that, it is the sole mandate of the Elections Committee to decide when and where to hold the NPP regional elections.
He asserted concerning rumours circulating that, the Ashanti regional NPP elections shall be held at Bosomtwe which is Chairman Wontumi’s constituency.
Speaking on Opemsuo Radio with Nkwantananso show host Agudey, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director stressed that the claims by some non-trustworthy individuals are untrue and must be disregarded. Dr. Kwesi Kyei emphasized that, the election is an internal one but not NPP against NDC that should be approached with tension but members should note that, the real battle lies between the party and the NDC in 2024 which would require collective hard work and unity.
In response to who qualifies to partake in the elections or has the voting right in relation to the regional elections, the Communication Director explained that, all members of the Regional Executives, Members of Parliament in the region, Constituency Executives, all Representatives of the Region at the National Council, 10 members of the Council of Elders at the Regional level, one TESCON member from any recognized tertiary institution, ten Patrons in the Region and any founding member.
This should amount to one-third of the number needed to be able to form a quorum to see to the progress of the elections, he added.
