Korea-Ghana Heritage Project Launched To Protect Ghana’s Heritage Sites From Climate Change

The Secretary-General of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, Dr Hyunik Hong, has led a delegation to present the Korea-Ghana Heritage Project to the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and the Ghana Commission for UNESCO.

The project, themed “Empowering Climate Action, Strengthening Ghana’s Integrated Capacity for Climate Change Response in Heritage Conservation,” is expected to run from 2026 to 2030.

It seeks to strengthen Ghana’s capacity to respond to the effects of climate change on the country’s cultural and natural heritage sites.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the Korean delegation, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Commission for UNESCO to discuss the project and explore areas of collaboration towards protecting Ghana’s heritage sites and strengthening climate resilience.

The initiative forms part of the longstanding cooperation between Ghana and the Republic of Korea in education, culture and sustainable development.
