BoG Calls For Investment In Professionalism, Ethical Leadership as Banking Sector Navigates Rapid Change

The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, has called for continued investment in professionalism, ethical leadership and trust as Ghana’s banking sector navigates rapid technological change, artificial intelligence, regulatory reforms and global economic uncertainty.

She made the call while speaking at the launch of The Ghanaian Banker Magazine on Friday, August 21, 2026.

Mrs Asante-Asiedu commended the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB Ghana) for providing a platform for professional dialogue, knowledge-sharing and informed reflection on the future of banking through the magazine.

According to her, despite rapid evolution in technology and regulation, the core foundation of banking remains unchanged.

“Banking is, and will always be, fundamentally built on trust. That trust is not granted; it is earned, and it must be protected through integrity, professionalism, and responsible conduct at every level of our institutions,” she stated.

She further encouraged CIB Ghana to make The Ghanaian Banker a bold and influential voice that challenges conventional thinking, promotes informed debate and contributes meaningfully to the development of Ghana’s financial sector.
