Education Minister Meets New KNUST Vice Chancellor
The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has met with the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Christian Agyare.
During the meeting in Accra, the Minister congratulated Prof. Agyare on his appointment and wished him success in his new role.
Hon. Iddrisu assured KNUST of the government’s support through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) towards the completion of the University’s Teaching Hospital.
He said the facility will not only support teaching and learning but also provide healthcare services to surrounding communities.
The Minister further urged the University to strengthen its focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and to work with hostel owners to provide affordable accommodation for students.
On his part, Prof. Agyare assured the Ministry of his commitment to advancing the University’s mandate, noting that KNUST is already directing more resources towards science, research, TVET, Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies.
He also pledged to strengthen stakeholder engagement and continue discussions with hostel owners on affordable student accommodation.
