Lawyer Tamakloe: Wontumi’s Move Is To Shift Attention From Economic Issues
The Aide to Former President Mahama, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe has stated that Wontumi’s statement on the NDC is simply a move to shift attention from the economic issues going on in the country.
According to the Lawyer, there exist pertinent issues for discussion yet Wontumi seeks to be touching on non-important stuff.
He said while the country faces economic challenges, Wontumi comments that Bawumia scares the NDC further commending the NPP and Bawumia.
Lawyer Tamakloe explains that Wontumi’s actions and statements are a clear indication of the party’s failure which scares Wontumi and that the NDC will not allow such acts.
“By 2021 they went back to the IMF for $ 2 billion, they couldn’t settle their debt obligation in the year 2020 and that is what has brought hardship in the country. So Wontumi does not want us to discuss such critical issues, he wants us to engage in useless ones. We want to deal with the economic issues. Wontumi has realized he is at a loss that’s why he has descended on Mahama, but we won’t give him such an opportunity, we will not dignify him, and we’re sticking to the economic issues. IMF people are in the country and IMF conditionalities are coming”, Lawyer Tamakloe said.
He added that, as a chairman of the NPP, he should be worried about teachers’ agitation over the Cost of living allowances and similar issues.
“MPs initially were paid on the 25-26th of a month but this time around their salaries are delayed to another month because the government has to borrow money before they can settle them that is what Wontumi wants to prevent us from discussing. Teacher Unions in the country are on strike, as the NPP chairman for the Ashanti Region, what is your response to agitation by teachers, you have no knowledge on that, all that you know is to engage in radio concerts.”
Tamakloe further stated that, “one thing is clear, the NPP government has two years remaining and nothing can save them, nothing can save them and Chairman Wontumi knows in two years he’ll be coughing over GHS 19million, that is his scare now,”
Wontumi made statements saying, “Bawumia as an NPP member scares the members of the NDC,” further condemning the NDC and Former President John Dramani Mahama.
