Gov’t Debunks Claims Over President’s GHC150 Million Comment, Says It Was For Flood Mitigation

The Presidency has dismissed claims circulating on social media about President John Mahama’s remarks on the release of GHS 150 million.

It described them as “mischievous lies” aimed at distorting the President’s words for partisan gain.

Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in a Facebook post on Monday, said some “misguided elements” were deliberately twisting the context of the President’s statement in a recent video.

According to him, the President was referring specifically to the “release” of GHS 150 million earmarked for post-flood mitigation works.

“The President clearly speaks of the ‘release’ of GHS 150 million, which was in direct reference to funds for post-flood mitigation works,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu stated.

“That is what he was discussing with the National Security Coordinator and nothing more.”

He urged the public to “disregard the mischievous lies” being peddled online and to seek clarity on government business from official sources.

The clarification comes amid public commentary and speculation on social media over the purpose of the GHS 150 million allocation.
