EC resumes registration in Awutu Senya East after Chaos

The Electoral Commission (EC) says it Officers are still on the ground at Kasoa Peace Town Top Hill Down polling station in the Awutu Senya East Constituency to register prospective Ghanaians after chaos broke on Monday, July 20,2020 compelling EC officials to flee for their lives.
“Yesterday and today, our people were on the ground to register Ghanaians . We will also continue this morning and days to come”, Public Affairs Director of EC, Sylvia Annor asserted on Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM morning show, Nkwantananso, hosted by George Opoku Mensah.
According to the PRO, the incident is unfortunate but it does not mean the Commission has halted its activities at that particular polling station.
On Monday the Kasoa Peace Town Top Hill Down polling station was closed down by the officials of the Electoral Commission after a misunderstanding between political actors which resulted in the firing of warning shots.
The sitting Member of Parliament had her convoy ambushed and warning shots fired and motor bikes set ablaze which resulted in registrants running like greased lightning.
The NDC Parliamentary candidate, Naa Koryor, accused the sitting MP, and Minister for Special Initiatives, Hon. Hawa Koomson, of orchestrating the attacks.
Meanwhile, the Police says four persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
