Digital Parliaments Project Africa Launched in Ghana to Strengthen Legislative Processes

The POPVOX-DPP Foundation, in collaboration with the House Democracy Partnership, has launched the Digital Parliaments Project Africa at a capacity training held in Ghana’s Parliament.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening legislative processes across the continent. It also seeks to bridge the gap between research and parliamentary practice in Africa, with a focus on enhancing legislative effectiveness and governance outcomes.

Speaking at the launch, Co-Founder and Executive Director of POPVOX-DPP, Ms Marci Harris, said the project is designed to promote transparency, accountability, and stronger institutional commitment among African Parliaments.

She highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in shaping legislative work and emphasised how digitalisation has improved efficiency within the United States Congress.

The event brought together representatives from several African parliamentary institutions, including the Parliament of Ghana, Parliament of Botswana, Parliament of South Africa, National Assembly of The Gambia, National Assembly of Senegal, the Pan-African Parliament, Parliamentary Network Africa, AFRIPAL, and the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as a Congressional support office.
