GES Sets November 16 Deadline For Payment of Outstanding Promotion Arrears

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that staff who are yet to receive their 2025 promotion arrears are expected to be paid on November 16, 2026.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 27th October, 2027, the GES said it is working with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to ensure that all outstanding payments are made by the scheduled date.

“Management wishes to inform all staff who are yet to receive their promotion arrears that efforts are being made in collaboration with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to ensure that the outstanding arrears are paid on 16 November, 2026,” the statement said.

The Service explained that the Controller and Accountant-General’s payment system had been closed to allow for the processing of October salaries, preventing the necessary inputs for the arrears from being made.

According to the GES, the system is scheduled to reopen on October 28, 2026, to allow the outstanding payment details to be entered and processed ahead of the November deadline.

The statement also assured staff that discrepancies identified in payments made on October 16, 2026, would be corrected.

“Management regrets the delay and the inconvenience caused,” the statement added.

Regional Directors have been asked to communicate the update to all affected staff.
