26 Countries Sign UN Convention On Negotiable Cargo Documents

Twenty-six (26) countries have signed the United Nations Convention on Negotiable Cargo Documents, marking a significant milestone in global trade facilitation.
The signing ceremony, held in Accra, represents a major step forward in efforts to modernise and harmonise the legal framework governing the international movement of goods.
The Convention seeks to modernise cargo documentation, promote digital trade, and make the movement of goods across different modes of transport more efficient and secure.
It is expected to provide a unified legal regime for negotiable cargo documents, facilitating their use across sea, air, road and rail transport, while supporting the transition from paper-based documents to secure digital systems.
The milestone positions Ghana at the heart of global efforts to transform international trade through innovation, harmonised legal frameworks and stronger international cooperation.
The achievement underscores Ghana’s growing influence in shaping global trade policy and its commitment to championing reforms that enhance efficiency, transparency and security in international trade.
