BoG Warns Public Against 20 Unlicensed Digital Loan Apps

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has cautioned the general public against engaging with 20 mobile loan applications operating in Ghana without the requisite licence or authorisation from the Central Bank.

In a public notice dated August 3, 2026, signed by the Secretary of the Bank, Ms Aimee Vyda Quashie, the Bank said it has observed the continued operation of entities providing digital loans through digital channels in contravention of the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana issued in September 2025.

The Bank said Adamfo Loan, Agyapacredit, Amanfi Loan, Arco Cash, Aya Lend, Bucks Now, CediGo, CGrab, DumboCash, FCash, Gh Loans, Gh Loans Pro, Hasty Credit, Newgry Money Tree, Omanpesa, PoPoCedi, Ready Money, Sika Tap, Sikapa Loan and Zigwe Loan were operating without approval.

The Bank of Ghana reiterated that the operations of these entities constitute significant violations of customer data privacy, consumer protection, and established regulatory standards.

To protect consumers and uphold the integrity of the financial sector, the Central Bank said it will continue to collaborate with relevant state institutions to identify, investigate, and take appropriate enforcement action against such entities.

The Bank strongly advised the public not to engage with unlicensed loan providers. It also cautioned Banks, Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions, and Payment Service Providers against facilitating or processing transactions on behalf of unlicensed loan providers.

Members of the public who become aware of the activities of unlicensed loan providers have been encouraged to report them to the Head of the Fintech and Innovation Department at the Bank of Ghana, Ridge, Accra.
