WAEC Releases Provisional Results for 2026 BECE
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination for School Candidates (BECE).
In a press release, WAEC said the results have been dispatched to schools through Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education.
Candidates who wish to check their results online can do so on the Council’s official website at waecgh.org.
Statistics
According to the Council, a total of 620,243 candidates from 20,789 schools registered for the examination, which included 304,415 males and 315,828 females.
The exams were conducted at 2,237 centres nationwide.
Among the candidates were 136 with visual impairment, 282 with hearing assessment needs and 510 with other test accommodation needs.
WAEC also recorded 3,601 absentees.
Exam Malpractices
The subject results of 496 candidates were cancelled, while the entire results of 105 candidates were also cancelled.
In addition, the subject results of 119 candidates were withheld, and the entire results of 48 candidates were withheld.
WAEC further disclosed that the subject results of 2,722 candidates from 229 schools have been withheld for further scrutiny.
The Council stated that these results may either be cancelled or released depending on the outcome of investigations by August 31, 2026.
Candidates whose results have been cancelled or withheld have been advised to visit irreg.waecgh.org and click on the withheld or cancelled button on the homepage.
The portal will provide reasons for the action taken and outline the next steps.
Heads of schools and proprietors can also use their results listing logins to check the status of their candidates.
Caution
The Council cautioned the public against fraudsters who claim they can upgrade results for a fee, stressing that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated.
WAEC expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Security Agencies, Heads of Schools, Supervisors, Invigilators, Examiners and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful conduct of the examination and the release of the results.
