GES Directs Newly Promoted Teachers to Ignore Requests to Submit Documents For Salary Adjustment

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that salary adjustments for newly promoted teachers are automatic and do not require submission of application letters or other documents.

In a statement issued on August 22, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, GES said it had received concerns from some newly promoted teachers that they had been directed to submit application letters together with their promotion letters and other documents for the processing of salary adjustments to reflect their new ranks.

GES stressed that the existing practice where teachers who are promoted to new ranks are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale to reflect the new rank has not changed.

“Teachers are, therefore, to ignore the request to submit any documents for salary adjustments,” the statement said.

Management called for calm among teachers as it engages the few regions and districts that are allegedly requesting such documents.
