Prof. Akosua Dickson Has Left an Indelible Imprint on KNUST – Otumfuo

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has hailed the leadership of the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, saying she has left a lasting mark on the institution.
Otumfuo described her as an accomplished leader during the investiture of her successor, Prof. Christian Agyare, on August 1, 2026.
“Prof, as you assume this high office, you follow an accomplished leader whose tenure has left an indelible imprint on this university. Prof. Mrs Akosua Dickson, the first female Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, served with distinction and unwavering commitment,” he said.
Addressing the congregation, Otumfuo stated that the university witnessed significant growth and an enhanced reputation under her leadership, and he commended her.
“Her leadership has advanced the university’s growth and strengthened its reputation. Mo ne yɛ,” he added.
Prof. Dickson is a Professor of Pharmacognosy and served as Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University before making history as its first female VC.
Prof. Dickson was first appointed VC in 2020. Her appointment was due to expire on July 31, 2024, but it was renewed.
She officially ended her tenure on July 31, 2026.
