Ghana’s Football Fraternity Mourns Mark Addo

The football fraternity in Ghana have paid tribute to Mark Addo, the Director of Competitions at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

His “sudden” death was announced by the Association on Monday.

Described as “hardworking”, Addo died in the early hours of Monday, January 9 according to the FA.

The GFA in a brief statement said “everybody associated with GFA is shocked and saddened to learn of his death earlier today.

“All our thoughts are with his wife, children and his family at this sad time. The GFA will update the sporting public after further engagement with the family. May his gentle soul rest in peace🙏🏾”.

Legon Cities also expressed its sadness at the news.

 

“Legon Cities FC is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the Director of Competitions at the GFA, Mark Addo. All of us wishes to express our sincere condolences to the family of Mark. His dedication & service has been exemplary & we will never forget that. RIP, Mark!”

Hearts of Oak posted, “Rest in peace, Mark Addo! Personally, I met Mark back in 2006 when we together with Albert, was interviewed for the vacant position of an administrator at @ghanafaofficial. He was such a nice gentleman. RIP”

Division One Club Sky FC also posted, “We are saddened by the death of Mr Mark Addo (Director of Competitions) at @ghanafaofficial Our heartfelt condolences to the family and the whole football fraternity.”

Division Two Club Bolga FC on its part said, “We extend our condolences to the @ghanafaofficial for we have lost a great son at Mark Addo director of competitions.#RestInPeace Mark”

Several other individuals have joined on social media to pay tribute.

It is not yet confirmed the cause of the death but reports indicate that Mark had been battling with a sickness recently.
