Ghana Shippers’ Authority Publishes Approved Haulage Rates from Tema Port to Mali and Niger

The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has released approved haulage rates for cargo moving from Tema Port to key destinations in Mali and Niger, in a move aimed at bringing transparency and predictability to transit trade costs.
According to the schedule made public by the Authority, shippers transporting containers to Mali will pay between 1,970,600 CFA and 3,569,500 CFA for both 20ft and 40ft containers, depending on the destination.
A 2x20ft container attracts higher charges ranging from 2,335,328 CFA to 4,230,160 CFA.
The lowest rate to Mali is to Ségou via Koury-Koutiala at 1,970,600 CFA for a 20ft or 40ft container, while the highest is to Kayes at 3,569,500 CFA for the same container sizes.
Other destinations include Bamako at 2,700,000 CFA, Koulikoro at 2,786,275 CFA, Sikasso at 2,000,100 CFA, Mopti via Benela at 2,168,250 CFA, Gao via Niamey at 2,419,000 CFA, and both Timbuktu via Mopti and Kidal via Niamey at 2,994,250 CFA.
For Niger, the Authority approved separate rates for bulk cargo and containerised cargo, while Bulk cargo rates start at 85,000 CFA to Niamey and go up to 145,000 CFA to Diffa.
Container rates are significantly higher. A 40ft container to Niamey is pegged at 4,200,000 CFA, while the same to Diffa costs 6,200,000 CFA.
A 20ft container to Niamey is 3,500,000 CFA and rises to 5,600,000 CFA to Diffa. For a 2x20ft container, shippers will pay 4,200,000 CFA to Niamey and 6,200,000 CFA to Diffa.
Other Niger destinations covered include Dosso, Konni, Tahoua, Maradi, Zinder and Agadez, with rates increasing progressively with distance from the port.
The Authority also noted that for cargo exceeding 27 tonnes, an additional charge of 85,000 CFA will be invoiced.
The Ghana Shippers’ Authority said the publication of the rates is part of efforts to protect the interest of shippers and promote fair competition in the haulage sector.
