Ghana Scholarships Authority DG Announces Q2 2026 Payments

The Director-General of the Ghana Scholarships Authority, Mr Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, has announced that the second-quarter scholarship payment for 2026 has been released.

According to him, it will be disbursed to beneficiaries soon.

During a working visit to the Ghana High Commission in London to engage Mission officials, he said the payment will provide much-needed relief to students.

He reaffirms the Government’s commitment to addressing the outstanding obligations and ensuring the timely payment of scholarships going forward.

He also engaged the Mission on the scholarship debt situation affecting Ghanaian students in the UK, explaining how portions of the outstanding debt accumulated to £35 million.

Mr Asafo-Agyei also presented key findings from the ongoing audit of the scholarship scheme and outlined measures being implemented to resolve the issues and strengthen the administration of Ghana’s scholarship programme going forward.

The engagement with the High Commission forms part of broader efforts by the Scholarships Authority to work closely with Ghana’s Missions abroad to address the welfare concerns of scholarship beneficiaries and improve coordination on payments and student support.
