Ghana Fire Service Begins Pilot of AFCAS Platform with Mandatory Provider Registration
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has officially commenced the pilot phase of its new digital platform, the Automated Fire Compliance and Safety System, known as AFCAS, as part of efforts to modernise fire safety administration in the country.
In a press release, the GNFS announced that the platform was developed in accordance with the Fire Precaution (Premises) Regulations, 2003 (LI. 1724) as amended by LI. 2249.
The Service stated that AFCAS is intended to enhance enforcement, monitoring, and the overall management of fire safety in Ghana.
It is also expected to improve service delivery, strengthen regulatory compliance, and promote more efficient collaboration between the GNFS and licensed fire safety service providers.
As part of the rollout, the GNFS has directed all existing and prospective fire protection contractors to register on the AFCAS platform.
The Service emphasised that registration is mandatory and will serve as a prerequisite for continued participation in all fire safety activities across the country.
Registration is scheduled to begin on Monday, 3rd August 2026 at 9:00 am and will be conducted online through www.afcas.gov.gh.
The GNFS noted that an Information Brochure has been uploaded onto the platform to guide applicants on the registration process, the objectives of the system, its benefits, and operational procedures.
All service providers have been encouraged to carefully read the brochure before commencing registration.
The introduction of AFCAS marks a significant step in the GNFS’s digital transformation agenda, as the Service moves to streamline operations and ensure greater accountability and transparency in the fire safety sector.
