Ghana Embassy in Tokyo Issues Advisory as Typhoon Dolphin Approaches Japan

The Embassy of Ghana in Tokyo has urged Ghanaian nationals and residents in Japan to take necessary precautions as Typhoon No. 13, named Dolphin, approaches the Ogasawara Islands.

In a General Advisory issued on August 3, 2026, the Embassy said the typhoon is located about 1,000 km south of central Tokyo and high waves are expected.

The Mission advised all Ghanaians and members of the public to remain alert and follow guidance from the relevant Japanese authorities.

To stay informed, the Embassy recommended that Ghanaians follow the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Disaster Prevention Information account @tokyo_bousai on X, formerly Twitter, for the latest updates.

It also urged them to check weather information for Tokyo in English on the Japan Meteorological Agency website.

For vessel information and updates on services to and from the Ogasawara Islands, the Embassy directed nationals to the Ogasawara Kaiun website.

It also advised travelers to check with their airlines for the latest information on flight schedules and possible disruptions.

“The Embassy of Ghana in Tokyo advises all Ghanaian nationals to exercise caution, stay informed, and closely follow the instructions of the Japanese authorities to ensure their safety,” the advisory stated.
