Covid Resurgence: We’re On Top of Issues- Health Minister

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akadoh has allayed fears with the recent resurgence of covid cases in the country, particularly at the University of Ghana (UG).

According to him, authorities are on top of the issue.

“Be rest assured. No need for panic,” he said during a visit to University of Ghana Health Facilities ahead of his upcoming parliamentary briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Addressing some students, he said, “We came to assess the situation because of the spike in COVID. We’ve had engagement with the university management, and we decided to come to the health facility to assess the situation ourselves.”

Referencing his engagements at the facilities, he said the number of cases had drastically reduced with no severe case or death.

“I can assure you that the country is on top of the issue. We even have a treatment for COVID. It’s not as dangerous as we used to know it because of the treatment.”

He also said the government was collaborating with the university to provide all the needed assistance to contain the situation.

Akandoh also commended the university for its proactive response and encouraged stronger collaboration with the Ministry of Health to improve healthcare delivery and safeguard public health.
