Committee to Investigate Aduana-Asona Dispute Over Boaman-Maase Stool

The occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has referred a dispute between the Aduana Clan and the Asona Clan over the Boaman-Maase stool to a committee.

The committee was constituted when the Kumasi Traditional Council convened on July 30, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace.

Members of the committee include the Asafohene, Twafohene, Kwasohene, and Kyeame Antwi Boasiako.

The committee has been charged to trace the origins of the stool.

“Do diligent work and make the report ready within a month,” His Majesty directed.

Background
The Aduana Clan was represented by the family head, Opanin Kwaku Antwi, while the Asona Clan was represented by Opanin Yaw Adusei.

At the last Council meeting on July 9, 2026, Opanin Antwi recounted to the Council how they resisted the destooled linguist of the Asantehene, Kyeame Kofi Nti, who had allegedly sought to give their stool to the Asona Clan.

According to him, the struggle culminated in an oath being invoked against him, which he defied.

“I invoked the Great Oath against him to stop him from giving the stool to the Asona Clan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Opanin Yaw Adusei referenced two rulings in his clan’s favour over the stool by Kyeame Kofi Nti and his predecessor.

To reaffirm his claim, Opanin Antwi invoked the Great Oath, which was countered by Opanin Adusei.
