A/R: PURC Urges Customers to Embrace Intermittent Power Supply
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has urged the general public in the Ashanti Region to prepare for the upcoming intermittent power supply from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as part of an ongoing upgrade project being undertaken by GRIDCo.
“The GRIDCo system upgrade project will call for intermittent power supply.”
Speaking with the media in Kumasi on Friday, July 24, PURC Regional Manager Mr. Boduah Edward explained that the intermittent power supply has become a necessary measure to allow GRIDCo engineers to work in a safe environment.
According to him, PURC is keenly monitoring the execution of the system upgrade to update residents in the region in due time.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the Ashanti Region will experience improved electricity supply after the GRIDCo system upgrade.
On his part, PURC Executive Secretary Dr. Shafic Suleman indicated that his outfit will embark on effective monitoring of the upgrade works to ensure better services for its customers.
“As PURC, we are there to ensure better customer services from the utility companies,” he stated.
The Executive Secretary also revealed that the intermittent power supply will last for three to four months, during which they will ensure that a timely power-off schedule is released to the public to help them plan their activities.
