A/R: Chief Justice Inaugurates Justice Clubs in 10 Senior High Schools

The Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has inaugurated and sworn in elected officers of Justice Clubs from ten selected Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region.
This is part of efforts by the Judicial Service to extend its civic education initiative to more parts of the country.
The ceremony, held in Kumasi, brought together students and staff from Afia Kobi Ampem Girls Senior High School, Anglican Senior High School, Dwamena Akenten Senior High School, Effiduase Senior High School, Juaben Senior High School, Konongo Odumase Senior High School, Opoku Ware School, Prempeh College, St. Monica’s Senior High School and Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School.
The Justice Clubs initiative, which already operates in the Greater Accra, Western, Central and Eastern Regions, is designed to expose young people to the principles of law, justice and ethical leadership.
Delivering his address, Chief Justice Baffoe-Bonnie said the Judiciary remains committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders with “the knowledge and understanding of the language of the law and the spirit that gives it life.”
He urged the newly sworn-in officers to lead by example and serve as worthy ambassadors of justice in their schools and communities.
The Chairperson of the Chief Justice’s Mentoring Programme, Her Ladyship Justice Olivia Anku-Tsede [JA], noted that membership of the clubs is open to all students regardless of their intended career path.
“The Clubs provide a unique platform for young people to develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, ethical leadership and effective communication, with a deep appreciation for justice. These are values and skills that are indispensable in every profession and in every sphere of life,” she said.
The Judicial Service of Ghana said it intends to roll out the programme next in the Northern Region as part of efforts to deepen public understanding of the rule of law among young Ghanaians.
