New Black Stars Players Win Confidence of Stephen Appiah

The Vice Chairman of Black Stars, Stephen Appiah, has his hopes in the future of the senior male national team revived and strengthened following the output of new players during the Unity Cup.

The former Black Stars legend is no doubt impressed by the performance of the boys.

“For what I saw against Chad and Madagascar and the friendlies, the Unity Cup that we played in the UK against Nigeria and Trinidad, it has given me a lot of hope because the new players who came showed themselves well,” he told Citi Sports.

He also expressed his confidence in Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup tournament.

“I am very convinced that we still have four games to play, but when you do the calculations, nothing tells me that we are not going to qualify.”

Ghana bagged six points against Chad and Madagascar to cruise to the top of Group I with 15 points. It is five points away from Madagascar which holds 10 points.

Their next game is slated for September.
