King Faisal Head Coach Passes Away

The Head coach of King Faisal Football Club, Prince Acheampong known as Sabuto has passed away only a month after joining the club.

He was 52 years old.

His death was confirmed in a statement by the Division One side on February 4, 2025.

“We regret to announce the sudden and sorrowful passing of our esteemed Head Coach, Prince Acheampong Sabuto.”

Though the club didn’t disclose the cause of the death, multiple reports suggest that he died while receiving treatment at a hospital after several days of hospitalization.

King Faisal in their statement conveyed their condolences to the family of the former Asante Kotoko SC assistant coach.

“The management and entire team of King Faisal Football Club extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.”

Meanwhile, they said the funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

Sabuto joined the club in January 2025, succeeding coach Barnabas Awuni, supervising the team’s journey to ninth on the Zone 2 log with 20 points.

Announcing his arrival on January 5 in a Facebook post, Faisal said he had been tasked with leading their team to greater heights.

“We look forward to an exciting new chapter under his leadership!”
