No Fresh Security Services Recruitment In 2027 As Gov’t Clears Backlog – Interior Minister

The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, says the government will not accept fresh applications for recruitment into the various security services in 2027, as it seeks to enlist qualified applicants who could not secure places for training due to limited capacity.
He said the decision followed instructions from President John Dramani Mahama, with priority to be given to applicants who have completed the recruitment process and met the requirements but were unable to proceed to training because there were no available spaces.
Speaking before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, October 20, Mr Muntaka said the recruitment portal would remain closed to new applicants next year.
Explaining the decision, he said the government would not open the portal for fresh applications in 2027.
“Next year, there will be no new applicants. We are not going to open the portal based on the President’s instructions. We are not going to open the portal for fresh applications.”
Mr Muntaka said the government would instead focus on applicants who had successfully completed the recruitment process but could not be admitted for training due to limited space.
“Those who have already applied, gone through and passed the process and qualified to have gone for training but space didn’t allow are the ones we will pick.”
He added that the government would continue recruiting from the existing list until all qualified applicants on it have been considered.
“We will keep picking from the list until we exhaust it before another application will be allowed.”
