Let Truth And The Law Guide You- Otumfuo To Gambia’s Chief Justice

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged the Chief Justice of The Gambia, Justice Edrissa M. O. Faal, to be guided by the truth and the law in the discharge of his judicial responsibilities.
He expressed confidence in Justice Faal’s experience, saying he believed the Gambian judicial leader would help uphold the rule of law and strengthen democracy in his country.
“Your experience, when I read about you, I don’t think you should be influenced by anything more than the truth and the law,” Otumfuo said.
He made the remarks when Justice Faal, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Mariama Faal, and a delegation from The Gambia and the Ghana Bar Association, paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Otumfuo said Ghana continued to rely on constitutional governance, with citizens choosing their leaders through elections and disputes being resolved through the courts.
“Everybody in Ghana believes that we still prefer one man, one vote, and if things go wrong, in four years, it determines how we vote again. And when there are any disputes, it goes to court, is interpreted, and we move,” he said.
He expressed confidence that The Gambia would also uphold democratic principles and the rule of law under Justice Faal’s leadership.
The Asantehene further encouraged the Chief Justice to maintain ties with Ghanaian judges to exchange ideas and benefit from their experience in the administration of justice.
“I believe that collaboration, you still stay in touch with them and for them to share ideas with you to help in the development of your country.”
The delegation toured the Manhyia Palace Museum before meeting the Asantehene, who congratulated Justice Faal on his appointment
