33-Year-Old Man Dies After Alleged Stabbing by 19-Year-Old Girlfriend at Ofankor

A 33-year-old man, Enoch Abrokwa, has died after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest by his 19-year-old girlfriend, Emmanuella Asante, during a misunderstanding at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.

The Tesano Divisional Police Command is investigating the incident, which occurred on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the deceased’s business premises.

According to a press release issued by the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, October 21, preliminary investigations suggest that a disagreement between the two escalated into a violent confrontation.

The police said the suspect allegedly attacked Abrokwa with a piece of broken glass, leaving him with a deep chest wound.

“The confrontation allegedly escalated, resulting in the accused person stabbing the deceased in the chest with a piece of broken glass,” the statement said.

Abrokwa was initially rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina before being referred to the Ridge Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a wound that affected his intestines. He died on October 14 while receiving treatment, five days after the incident.

The police disclosed that Asante was arrested on October 10 after the complainant and three other people brought her to the police. She reportedly admitted to stabbing the deceased and was subsequently put before the court.

She has been remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear on November 3, 2026, as investigations continue.

The Accra Regional Police Command has called on the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and avoid violence.

“The Accra Regional Police Command urges the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and refrain from violence,” the statement added.

The police have also encouraged the public to cooperate with investigators as the case proceeds in accordance with the law.
