Gov’t Begins Nationwide Interviews for 2026/2027 Decentralised Local Tertiary Scholarship Scheme

The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has announced the commencement of nationwide interviews following applications for the 2026/2027 Decentralised Local Tertiary Scholarship.
In a statement, it said the Ghana Scholarships Authority will conduct interviews for applicants who successfully applied through its online scholarship application portal.
It noted that shortlisted applicants have already been notified via SMS and their individual application portal accounts have been updated with details of their respective interview schedules.
According to the Ministry, while these direct notifications have been made, it is imperative to leverage the extensive presence and outreach of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to ensure that all shortlisted applicants receive timely information and are adequately prepared for the interview exercise.
Regional Coordinating Councils and MMDAs have therefore been requested to support and facilitate the national exercise by publicising the interview schedules within their jurisdictions through appropriate communication channels, bringing the interview information to the attention of shortlisted applicants and the general public, and informing applicants of the interview date, time and venue assigned to their respective districts.
The assemblies are also to remind applicants to report to the interview with originals and photocopies of academic certificates or results, proof of admission or enrolment where applicable, a Ghana Card or other acceptable national identification, and any other supporting documents as indicated on the applicant’s scholarship portal.
In addition, shortlisted applicants are to be encouraged to report promptly to their designated interview centres for both the interview and assessment.
The Authority believes that the active involvement of MMDAs will significantly enhance public awareness, improve attendance at the interview centres, and contribute to a transparent, equitable and successful selection process.
For the Ashanti Region, Team A interviews are scheduled to begin from August 3 to August 10, 2026.
Kumasi Metropolitan will hold interviews on August 3, 4 and 5, while Kwadaso is set for August 3 and 4. Oforikrom has been allocated four days from August 3 to 6.
Asokwa, Suame, Old Tafo and Asokore Mampong will conduct interviews on August 6. Kwabere East and Bosomtwe are scheduled for August 6 and 7.
Bosome Freho and Amansie Central will hold theirs on August 7, with Adansi North, Adansi Asokwa District and Adansi South slated for August 10.
