Eat More Chocolate To Be Healthier – GTA

Mr Frederick Adjei-Rudolph, the Ashanti Regional Director of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has encouraged Ghanaians to increase their consumption of chocolate and other cocoa products, especially on Chocolate Day, to be heathier.

He emphasized that since Valentine’s Day, which coincides with Chocolate Day, sees increased sales for traders, it means people are consuming more cocoa products like chocolates and improving their health.

“Sales go up and people become healthier.”

He urged everyone to express and teach love by sharing chocolate to also commemorate the day.

“I urge everyone not to assume that GTA is the sole entity celebrating Chocolate Day. Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) can also distribute chocolates, and our traditional leaders can share chocolates while educating their communities about love,” he said in an interview with Opemsuo Radio’s Kwame Awuah Nimfour.

The Director explained that Chocolate Day was instituted by the late Jake Obetsebi Lamptey several years ago to promote Ghanaian cocoa chocolate and boost tourism.

The main theme for this year’s celebration is “Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy, Grow Ghana,” with the sub-theme “Explore Ghana, Eat Chocolate”.
