Candidates Sit 2023 BECE Today

Candidates of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will today, August 7, 2023, begin the national examination.

According to statistics from the Ghana Education Service (GES) a total of 600,714 candidates comprising 300, 323 males and 300, 391 females from 18,983 schools will sit at 2,137 exam centres this year.

The examination will have 2, 137 supervisors, 2,000 Assistant Supervisors and 21,027 Invigilators on duty within the five days ending Friday, August 11.

Per the BECE calendar, two subjects will be sat each day except for Friday when only one subject will be taken.

Religious and Moral Education and English Language are scheduled for today, August 7; Integrated Science and Ghanaian Language for day 2; Social Studies and Basic Design and Technology for day 3; Mathematics and Information Communication Technology for day 4; and finally French for the last day.

Wishing the candidates well in a social media post, the Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum urged them to refrain from all examination malpractices.

“I extend my heartfelt wishes of luck and encouragement to all our wonderful final-year junior high school students who will be sitting for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) starting tomorrow. Remember, you have prepared diligently and you are well-equipped to showcase your knowledge and skills.”

“I urge you all to refrain from examination malpractices and rather stay confident, stay focused and believe in yourself and your capabilities. You are capable of achieving great things and this examination is just one step towards a promising future.”
