Education Ministry Receives Revised KG to Primary 6 Curriculum for Consideration
The Ministry of Education has received the revised Kindergarten to Primary Six curriculum from the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) for consideration ahead of implementation.
The revised curriculum is designed to strengthen foundational learning in basic schools, promote Ghanaian values, and equip learners with critical thinking, problem-solving skills and competencies required for national development.
Presenting the document, NaCCA said the review was informed by the need to make basic education more relevant, responsive and aligned with global best practices while retaining the country’s cultural identity.
The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, described the curriculum review as one of the most significant milestones of his tenure.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to developing learners with strong character, ethical values, critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills through a curriculum that responds to current educational and societal needs.
Hon. Iddrisu noted that the Ministry will subject the revised curriculum to further stakeholder engagement before rolling it out to ensure smooth implementation across public and private basic schools nationwide.
The KG to Primary 6 curriculum forms the foundation of Ghana’s education system and is expected to shape how young learners acquire literacy, numeracy and social skills in the coming years.
