A/R: Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Robbery Suspect After Swift Night Patrol Response in Asabi
A swift response by the Asokore Mampong Night Patrol Team has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man suspected of robbing and attacking a man in Asabi.
According to a press release issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit on July 22, 2026, the incident occurred at about 12:20 am on July 21, 2026.
The patrol team, while on routine patrol at Asabi, received information that a male adult had been robbed of his mobile phone and was lying unconscious near the Presbyterian Church.
The team proceeded immediately to the scene. Upon seeing the police, the suspect fled and hid in an uncompleted building but was pursued and arrested.
The suspect was identified as Ahmed Mustapha, aged 19. A search conducted on him led to the retrieval of the complainant’s mobile phone and a machete, both of which have been retained as exhibits.
The victim sustained machete wounds to the forehead, neck, and left hand. He was rushed to KNUST Hospital where he was admitted and is receiving treatment. Police said they visited the victim at about 5:30am the same day and found that he had regained consciousness, was in a stable condition, and continues to receive medical care under observation.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
