WASSCE Scripts Safe, Marking to Begin Soon – WAEC Debunks Flood Damage Claims

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has debunked reports that recent flooding destroyed scripts of the 2026 WASSCE candidates, assuring the public that all papers are secured and the marking process is about to begin.

Speaking to the media, Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, said there is no basis for claims that candidates will have to rewrite the exams.

“We do not expect that anybody will write the WASSCE papers again because probably the floods may have destroyed any paper.

“We want to assure the general public, parents and candidates that all their scripts are secured. We have them in our custody, and we are about to start with the marking process,” he stated.

Kapi urged the public to disregard the reports, noting that authentic updates on the exams will only come from WAEC.

“Such a story should be debunked because if there is any authenticity in the stories, they should certainly come from us. We always want to come out and tell the public what is going on so that we don’t create panic among the candidates,” he said.

He added that WAEC will directly communicate with the media whenever there is any official information on candidates’ scripts to ensure Ghanaians receive accurate updates and are not misled by unverified reports circulating on news websites.
