National House of Chiefs Throws Weight Behind Ghana Medical Trust Fund

The National House of Chiefs has pledged nationwide support for the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), committing to champion the initiative and help more Ghanaians living with chronic diseases access life-saving healthcare.
Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku said the partnership will strengthen public awareness while easing the burden on chiefs, who are often called upon to support people facing overwhelming medical costs.
President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, urged traditional leaders across the country to become ambassadors of the Fund and educate their communities on its benefits.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, described the endorsement as a major milestone, saying the influence of chiefs will accelerate public acceptance of the Fund and ensure financial hardship no longer stands between Ghanaians and essential healthcare.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Health, Director of Technical Coordination of the Ministry of Health, Dr Hafez Adam Taher, commended the National House of Chiefs for embracing the initiative, stressing that the partnership between government and traditional authorities will help restore hope, save lives, and ensure no Ghanaian is denied treatment because of cost.
