NCA to Hold Pre-Application Briefing on Spectrum Licences for 5G and Mobile Broadband
The National Communications Authority (NCA) will hold a Pre-Application Briefing on Monday, July 27, 2026, for prospective applicants interested in spectrum licences in the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3 GHz mid-bands.
The briefing follows its announcement of July 16, 2026, inviting applications for spectrum licences for the provision of mobile broadband services, including 5G.
The session is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the NCA Tower in Accra. According to the NCA, the briefing will provide prospective Applicants with an opportunity to seek clarification on the Request for Applications (RFA) and the Selection and Award Procedure.
Key areas to be covered include the available spectrum lots, eligibility criteria, application requirements, rollout obligations, and the evaluation process.
Attendance is limited to entities eligible to apply under the RFA. These include licensed Mobile Network Operators, Mobile Virtual Network Operators, Broadband Wireless Access Providers, Internet Service Providers, and 100% Ghanaian-owned new entrants, subject to the detailed eligibility requirements in the RFA.
The Authority said prospective Applicants wishing to attend must pre-register by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, by emailing info@nca.org.gh. Attendance is subject to confirmation by the NCA.
The Request for Applications and the Selection and Award Procedure are available on the Authority’s website.
The NCA noted that the release of the mid-band spectrum forms part of efforts to expand mobile broadband services and support the rollout of 5G in Ghana.
