Mahama Reassigns Labour Minister, Deputy Defence Minister

President John Dramani Mahama has reassigned the Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation and the Deputy Minister for Defence in a fresh ministerial reshuffle.
In a statement issued by the Presidency Communications on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Hon. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo has been moved from the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Job Creation to serve as Minister of State for Special Initiatives.
He has been replaced by Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum as the new Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation.
The President has also reassigned the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Ernest Brogya Genfi, as Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.
According to the statement signed by the Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the reassignments take immediate effect.
